Aero Glass - Stunning!

No doubt that Aero Glass is stunning. I have an nVidia BFG 6800 OC video card, and the clarity and vibrancy in Vista compared to XP makes it seem like I have two different monitors. There's that much noticeable difference.
The "special effects" in Aero also are quite interesting. The neon blue clock is terrific.

1. Right click on your desktop and select New and then Shortcut.
2.
Copy and paste RunDll32 DwmApi #105 into the location box and hit Next.
3. Enter in a name for your shortcut and hit Finish.

Yer I just tried what was suggested and its not listed on mine either, I am using vmware workstation if that makes a difference. I didnt think it would as i thought it just used the same graphics card you have in your real PC (radeon 9550 256MB) so i thought it should have no trouble.

OK . I replyed but it did'nt show " I hope this is'nt a double post " Anyhow when I first tried to get Aero to work It did'nt show either , What I did was just reboot my computer and it showed up on the Visual Appearance then. At first all i saw was Vista (Basic) for the Visual Appearance also. P.S. Make sure you Have the video card drivers installed and that your Video adapter supports Aero. -- AMD64 3500+ Abit AV8 (VIA K8T800 Pro) 1.50 GB PC3200 DDR-SDRAM Evga 7800 GS SC

yup. setup said it was unable to find any ATI products, which is what brings me to suspect that running it on vmware is causing the issue as it looks like its not using my real graphics card. Anyone know of any way to tell vmware to use it? im new to it. Just looked and its not listed in device manager.

IC - can't help you since I am not using vmware. Why not just create a separate partition? Runs fine on a logical partition.

I tried that first, using partition magic to create a new partition on one of my drives....it ended up making that drive say "corrupt file system" when i tried to access anything on it. After running chkdsk /F it was sorted but I then decided i would go for virtual pc/vmware as it seems a bit safer :P

If you notice in the screenshot, the C partition is called WINDFALT. Right now it's about 700 MB.
The only things on it are what 98SE, XP Pro, and Vista dump there such as Boot, Command, ntldr, etc. It happens to be FAT32 because I still have 98SE installed. If 98SE were not installed, it would be formatted as NTFS.
http://home.cfl.rr.com/jbmsbink/VistaInstall.jpg
Some other programs dump installation text logs there, but I delete them.
98SE is on E partition, XP Pro on F Partition, and Vista on N.
Did you create a separate small C partition like I did, or do you have an Operating System installed on your C partition?
